Angelo Spadola, member of the Ontario Architects Association and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

In the early seventies, architect Angelo Spadola, then working in the engineering office of Robert Halsall & Associates in Toronto, was exposed to the great works of the big-name architects such as Ron Thom, Arthur Erickson, Raymond Moriyama, Ed Zeidler and Murray Murray. These are the fathers of Architecture in our country.

Spadola later attended Carleton University's renowned School of Architecture, studying under the legendary Professor Douglas Shadbolt and Frank Carter. Spadola entered the architectural big leagues in 1990 when he was commissioned to do a tourism master plan for the coastal areas of Tanzania for (CIDA) the Canadian International Development Agency and the government of Tanzania. This first international commission was important, as it opened other opportunities abroad: a housing project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; a university master plan for Doha in Qatar; hotel reconstruction work for Sarajevo, in Bosnia/Herzegovina. In Ottawa, for the past 20 years, Spadola has designed several commercial buildings, private residences, schools, churches, restaurants and specialized shops. According to Spadola, the architect is a tightrope walker, keeping a steady path while being balanced by the client's wishes on one end of the balancing pole and common interest on the other end. Spadola works out of an office located at 51 Young Street, off Preston Street in Little Italy.
